CEVO have announced its league's eighth season, which will once again feature LAN finals in MLG.tv studio in Columbus, Ohio on November 6-8. After giving out more than $135,000 in prizemoney during Season 7, which ended this weekend with Virtus.pro emerging victorious from a best-of-five series against Natus Vincere, CEVO are ready to announce the opening of Season 8. That will feature a total of four skill divisions, called Professional, Main, Intermediate and Amateur, the last three of which serve as stepping stones, as the top sides in each get to fight for a spot in the higher-level competition.
The league will see a change in format - albeit small - teams will receive a point for each map won in the best-of-two, instead of three for a series win and one each after a tie. As of now the Placement tournament is still going on, so not all teams are set for the next season, whose schedule looks as such:
$150,000 will be distributed among the teams, $50,000 of which will go into travel support for the LAN finals teams with the remainder going into the prizepot itself. Teams that would like to register for the Amateur league have to head over to the CEVO website. |
